Hello 2017

The new year is always a fun time for me, hanging out with friends, getting to reflect back on the great times and memories, I love it. Having said that, I know we all go through stuff, some of which is sometimes difficult stuff, that shapes and dictates what this new year will hold. This is the time of year that we reflect on the old and look forward to the new. Now you have a choice. You have a choice to either stay stuck or to move on. There are the good times and bad. Without the bad we probably wouldn't be able to appreciate the good. Memories are fun to remember, but the past should be left in the past. Thank God that we have another year to make it right! This year could be the best year for you, if you let it... if you make it. We can write a long list of goals and dreams, but they won't accomplish themselves. Mountains are challenges that we are faced with daily and there is no easy way. Lets think for a moment, who is the stronger person? The person who finishes the race at a slow pace, or the one who signed up, started running fast but then dropped out? We can Sign up for a 5K and never complete. The one who signed up, trained day and night, ate well and ran across the finish line is the one who is going home with a trophy in their hand. The end of the year is not the end of our troubles, it's another chance for us to finish strong. It's a chance for some of us to start fresh. I may not know what you go through day in and day out, but I know that everyone has a chance to finish stronger than they began. You may be entering this year with low expectations, not setting any goals because you don't see the reason in even trying. What if this year is the year that changed everything? What if this was the year you accomplished one of your dreams? Don't rob yourself and others of that chance. You may not see what I see, but I know how God sees you. In the Bible it says,

"For I know the plans I have for you", says the Lord." They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

Jeremiah 29:11

How about that? All this time of us looking and searching for a hope a purpose when the whole time it can be found in Him. He clearly says that He has plans that are meant for good and not for disaster. I know that all of us have gone to great measures to find the slightest feeling of satisfaction. For some of us our vision for life is just foggy. We are desperately looking for a hope that will not fail. It's not a pill nor is this found in a poor relationship, God is true to His word and His promises. Lift up your weary head, dust off 2016 and walk into 2017 with confidence. "Why?", you may ask. Why have so much faith? Why see the potential in someone who constantly trips up? "God does not make junk" as my dad would say. Everyone has the right to become liberated from their past and to be offered a chance to start fresh. Let me be the encourager in your life, I believe in you. Let's make 2017 the best year yet!

Let's reorder our list to where God is first. Let's spend time in prayer everyday talking with Him and take advantage of all He has spoken to us in the Bible. Find a local Church where you can be planted, serve and grow because we were not made to do life alone.
